At Medax OSCE Academy, we believe that confidence comes from real clinical experience. That’s why we offer our Supervised Clinical Placement Programme, designed to help learners build practical experience in a real healthcare environment under the guidance of experienced healthcare professionals.

The Clinical Placement Programme is a separate service from our training programmes and requires separate enrolment. Learners must successfully complete the required practical assessment before becoming eligible to apply.

After meeting the entry requirements, you’ll have the opportunity to complete a supervised clinical placement, where you’ll observe and perform venepuncture on consenting patients under direct supervision. Throughout your placement, you’ll receive ongoing guidance, personalised feedback and professional support to help you develop safe, patient-centred clinical practice.

What Happens During Your Clinical Placement?

Our Clinical Placement Programme is designed to bridge the gap between simulated learning and real clinical practice.

During your placement, you may have the opportunity to:

Observe experienced healthcare professionals performing venepuncture.
Perform blood collection on consenting patients under direct supervision.
Practise patient identification, communication and obtaining consent.
Develop confidence in vein selection and blood collection techniques.
Learn correct specimen labelling and handling procedures.
Follow infection prevention, health and safety, and sharps management protocols in a real clinical environment.
Receive personalised feedback from your clinical supervisor.
Complete a competency assessment and skills sign-off where the required standard has been achieved.

Every learner progresses at their own pace, with patient safety and high-quality clinical care remaining the priority throughout the placement.
